The NEPAD Climate Change Fund for Organizations Working in Africa - do 28. 2. 2015

The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Agency invites all eligible institutions and organizations working in African sub-continent to apply for the NEPAD Climate ChangeFund. The fund primarily aims to strengthen the resilience of African countries to climate change by building national, sub-regional and continental capacity. The NEPAD Climate Change Fund is a program of the African Union (AU).
Up to EUR 200,000 will be awarded to activities of maximum 6 months duration. The current fund will run for an initial period of two years (2014-2015).

- Integrating climate change into the National Agricultural Investment Plans (NAIPs)
Focus Activities
- Training, Capacity Development and Awareness Creation
- Training & capacity building for technical persons and stakeholders
- Awareness creation and provision of education and information for decision-makers
- Support interventions using already-proven instruments and measures at regional and national level, disseminating of lessons learned and good practices
- Policy advice and technical support
- Support mainstreaming of climate change into national policies particularly in National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and National Agriculture Investment Plans (NAIPs).
- Development of policies, strategies and guidelines for improving frameworks in line with international standards and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs).
The fund also provides support to
- Strengthening the role of civil society or media organizations in climate change, agriculture and environmental issues.
- Human resource development activities such as workshops, training and capacity building
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should be institutions and organizations working specifically in the target areas of the Fund.
- Priority is given to African government institutions, regional economic communities, and regional and national coalitions of civil society organizations involved in the target area of the Fund.
- Co-funding is a requirement. Contributions may be in the form of cash or/and in-kind. Co-funding will be as follows:
- A contribution of 5% of the total budget for projects under EUR 100,000.
- A contribution of 10% of the total budget for projects between EUR 101,000 and EUR 200,000.
- A contribution of 12% of the total budget for exceptional projects approved above EUR 200,000.
- All proposals must be submitted in English or French.
Note: All project proposals must be submitted using Form A “Grant Application Form”. This Grant Application Form must be endorsed by the Head of Institution or his/her accredited representative.
