RAB GTPases are important regulators of vesicular transport. As in other eukaryots, these proteins navigate vesicle trafficking also in plants. Although RAB GTPases were present already in the Last Common Eukaryotic Ancestor, RAB families diverged then in evolution in different eukaryotic kingdoms reflecting different complexity both on the organismal and cellular levels. In my talk, I will focus on the role of RAB GTPases in the later phase of secretion in plants and compare it with the situation in other eukaryots. I will try to persuade the audience that these small proteins deserve our big attention.
