Days of Geography is the name for a popularizing educational event, which in the Czech environment is loosely based on traditions in Anglo-Saxon countries (specifically Geography Awareness Week, GIS Day and Day of Geography).

In the Czech Republic, the Faculty of Science of the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem is established the tradition of this event. While in 2006 it was only a three-day event, this activity gradually grew into a week-long event (called Geography Week), which also included GIS Day and further education for primary and secondary school teachers.

In 2014, the idea arose from the meeting of the Main Committee of the Czech Geographical Society to organize a similar event nationwide. The following year, it was decided that the event will be called Geography Days from 2015 and will take place every year throughout the Czech Republic in the 3rd or 4th week of November.

Not only all the geographic workplaces of Czech universities, but also other institutions, such as libraries, elementary or secondary schools, non-profit organizations, etc., can join the program.

The Czech Geographical Society aims, through the Days of Geography, to draw attention to the huge breadth of geographical research topics that are the focus of individual workplaces and thus point out the importance of geography in modern society. Geographers are the only researchers who are able to observe socio-geographical and physical-geographical phenomena in space, evaluate the causes and spatial impacts of certain activities, and monitor and evaluate spatial differences and similarities between regions. The geographer thus finds application in modern society from public administration to state companies to private enterprises and organizations. Some deal with regional politics, others monitor the consequences of global climate change or the causes and consequences of floods or melting glaciers. Examples of research topics include problems caused by international migration or problems associated with suburbanization and many others.
