RNDr. Jiří Novotný passed away (1931-2022)

At the beginning of October, RNDr. Jiří Novotný died at the age of 91. Born in Klatovy, he graduated in physical and regional geography from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Charles University in Prague. After graduation, he joined the Institute of Cartography and Reproduction, today's Kartografie Praha, a.s. He was the responsible editor of general geographical maps. His basic works included the unique collection of maps called "Poznáváme svět" and pocket atlases of the world in Czech and foreign language versions. As a specialist, he devoted himself to the education of young editors. He was a member of the Czech Geographical Society from 1984. For a long time, he supported the Geographical Library by many donations. Rest in peace!

Students in the Erasmus+ program visited the library

On Tuesday, September 27, the Erasmus club organized the so-called "Orientation day" for foreign students who will spend the coming semester studying geography at our faculty. As part of it, they also visited the Geographical library, where we presented them the history and present of the library, as well as the possibilities we can offer them.

Exhibition "Czech lands in the middle of Europe"
