Matriculation of bachelor students

Matriculation is the ceremonial admission of students into the academic community of the university. Matriculation ceremonies are held in the Great Hall at the  Carolinum, Ovocný trh 5, Prague 1 (Rector's Office of Charles University).  It is an act within the university, to which neither the students' family members nor the public are invited.

The matriculation ceremony is intended for students in their first year of Bachelor's studies, even if they have previously studied at our faculty. Students who attend the matriculation are excused from classes on the day of the matriculation. In case of interest or by agreement with the instructor, they may attend classes outside the actual matriculation date.

Students should arrive in appropriate formal dress and with their UK student ID (ISIC) to report to the room next to the the Great Hall at the Carolinum at least 30 minutes before the start of matriculation. The start of matriculation for each study programme is given in the timetable, which is usually published during September.

The matriculation procedure is described in Article 2 of this Regulation:Matriculation and Graduation Code of CU.

Photography and video recording is provided by a contracted company during matriculation. All students, by attending matriculation, consent to the taking and use of photographs and audio/video recording.

The matriculation will take place on October 10, 2023.
