The Václav Havel Scholarship is intended for foreign students for whom the repression of totalitarian, authoritarian or other unfree regimes from anywhere in the world make it difficult or impossible to study.
Students from countries in which, according to humanitarian organizations, human rights and freedoms are being violated and where discriminatory measures are applied in obtaining an education can apply for Václav Havel scholarship. The scholarship can only be awarded to a student who, based on the admission procedure, has been accepted and enrolled to study at one of the faculties of the Charles University.
The application form can be found in the attachment of this article. According to the Rector's directive, it is also necessary to add all the attachments to the application (Article 3, points 6 and 7).:
• CV
• Copy of the application form to study at the University Faculty
• Personal Letter for the SVH council
• Transcript of previous study results and grades or a copy of diploma of the highest education
achieved
• Documents confirming repression or persecution, e.g. documents provided by a humanitarian
organisation
The required attachments on persecution can be documented in English, but in the case of less common foreign languages, it is necessary to ensure a certified translation of the document into Czech.
As part of the preparation for studying in the Czech language, it is possible to apply for a contribution to cover living expenses.
Financial support is provided directly by Charles University.
