Neuron & IOCB Tech Internships for Karolína Mrzílková

BSc. Karolína Mrzílková from the Department of Biochemistry conducted her undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Dr. Lenka Žáková at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences. Her research was focused on vesiculin, a recently discovered hormone belonging to the insulin family. In recognition of her accomplishments, she has been granted a fellowship through the Neuron & IOCB Tech Internships program in Israel for the year 2023, which will allow her to spend two months at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel. During her stay, Karolína will focus on the design and synthesis of nanoparticles that contain biologically active proteins, with a specific emphasis on analyzing their impact on the nervous system.

Karolína succeeded among tens of applicants whose projects have a potential for pracitcal application. The summer stay at the Weizmann Institute will provide her with valuable scientific and personal experiences.
