Postdoctoral position in Molecular Biology and Evolution of Anaerobic Parasitic Protists

Description

Seek an energetic self-motivated scientist in molecular parasitology or related field for postdoctoral position to join research team in the Laboratory of Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, Charles University in Prague. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work on the project to study a role of iron-sulfur proteins and iron-sulfur assembly machinery in energetic metabolism of anaerobic protists including Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis and Entamoeba histolytica. Specifically, we focus on the role of mitochondrion related organelles hydrogenosomes and mitosomes in maturation of iron-sulfur proteins that reside within these organelles and in other cell compartments.
Requirements: Candidate must have a strong background in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Individuals with experienced work with genomic data, gene silencing and phenotypic analysis using biochemical approaches and advanced microscopy techniques in the field of parasitic protist are preferred. The applicant should have the ability to plan and execute experiments and interpret results independently.
