Postdoctoral position in Bioinformatics - Vertebrate genetics

Successful candidate will be responsible for the bioinformatic analysis of transcriptome and proteome from selected model veratebrates (birds, mammals). Prior knowledge or a potential to manage bioinformatic analysis of 4-5-4 de novo sequencing is required. Molecular biology skills are also appreciated. Successful candidate will be selected on the basis of published records in international journals with IF that document required skills. The candidates should be able to speak fluent English, however candidates from the Czech
Republic are also eligible if they are able to speak fluent English and write scientific publications in English. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact and co-operate well with other scientists and students in the team are essential.

Description

The aim of the project is to analyze large transcriptome data from promiscuous and monogamous species of birds and mammals to reconstruct potential selective prassures that led to pseudogenization or re-duplication of olfactory and vomeronasal receptors in chemosenzory neurons. This analysis will be preformed along with the analysis of
genes for pheromone transporters from large protein family called lipocalins.
