Select dates of two courses: work in Linux not only for MetaCentrum and work with molecular data in R

First course will focus on work in Linux command line, writing of scripts and use of that knowledge for work with MetaCentrum of CESNET. The second course will be about work with molecular data in R. Both will be taught by Vojtěch Zeisek

In case of any questions ask Vojtěch Zeisek.

Linux command line and MetaCentrum

Don't be afraid of command line! It is friendly and powerful tool. Practically identical is command line also in Mac OS X, BSD and another UNIX-based systems, not only in Linux. Basic knowledge of Linux is not conditional.

You will learn

  • Use basic commands in Linux command line.
  • Work with documentation and search for solutions of your problems.
  • Write easy scripts to help you in your work.
  • Work with MetaCentrum of CESNET where tasks are submitted by short scripts launched from command line.
  • If you wish another topics, write comment into Doodle poll.

The course will be in two consecutive days (January 26 and 27, 2015). Vote for the date until Sunday December 7 at http://doodle.com/tg2fpscrb8a97c6r

If there will be at least one participant not speaking Czech (or Slovak), the course will be in English.

Details (will be continuously updated). Application form.

Molecular data v R

R is nowadays probably the most powerful tool for statistics of all types. There are plenty of modules available for work with molecular data. Those will be introduced during the course. Previous knowledge of R is useful, but not necessary.

You will learn

  • Basic work in R (not to get lost in subsequent work).
  • Load and export molecular data of various types and formats.
  • Work with microsatellites, AFLP and sequencing data.
  • Create distance matrices, phylogenetic trees, Bayesian analysis, work with Structure, create PCoA, plots etc.
  • If you wish another topics, write comment into Doodle poll.

The course will be in three consecutive days (January 14-16, 2015). Vote for the date until Sunday December 7 at http://doodle.com/pdyfbi2b7n46ddgm
