MG440P15 - Geotectonics and Plate Tectonics
Undergraduate course clarifying foundations of plate tectonics theory. The course provides an overview of historical and recent geotectonic theories, geophysical aspects of Earth covering seismology, and paleomagnetism, characterization of litospheric plate boundaries, plate kinematics, mantle dynamics and interactions at the plate boundaries.
MG440P37 - Geodynamics of Lithosphere
Advanced course in geotectonics and litosphere scale deformation processes designed for graduate students in structural geology, petrology and geology. Main subjects of the course are heat flow within oceanic and continental crust, mechanical properties of the lithosphere, rifted realms, orogenic belts, concept of isostasy and mantle dynamics.
MG440P17 - Fundamentals of Structural Geology
Undergraduate course in structural geology. During the course students acquire basic skills in describing and interpreting geological structures of all scales. Students will also get to contact with the interplay between kinematical and dynamical approach in structural geology and learn to use basic mathematics and physics as a tool in structural geology (matrixes in geology and basic equations in continuum mechanics).
MG440P26 - Rheology and Deformation Microstructures
An introductory course into the study of deformation microstructures and crystal plasticity. The aim of this course is to clarify physical background of deformation and recrystallization processes occurring in most common minerals and rocks.
MG440T68 - Field Exercises in Structural Geology
Field course focused on field demonstration of basic structures and their description on outcrops. Some common field methods of structural analysis will be trained. The field course follows a lecture G440P17 - Structural geology.
