LECTURE: Prof. Russell E. Morris - Nanoporous materials – from fundamental synthesis to applications in medicine
Abstrakt:
Nanoporous materials such as zeolites and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are important classes of solid that have applications that span a wide range of different industries – from oil refinancing catalysts and detergent water softeners all the way to food packaging and medicine. In this presentation I will describe how we undertake fundamental synthetic studies to understand how to prepare new materials, and especially materials that cannot be prepared using traditional methods. I will then also describe how we use the results from the fundamental studies to design new applications of nanoporous solids, in particular in the area of medical device coatings.
