Deadline for applications to the 4EU+ Urban Health Case Challenge 2023

Do you want to work in a multidisciplinary team and solve real urban challenges together with students from different universities across Europe? Then you still have the opportunity to apply for the 4EU+ Urban Health Case Challenge 2023 and represent Charles University in this exciting student competition! The challenge is open to Bachelor's, Master's and PhD students and the course is worth 3 ECTS. The deadline for applications is 15 October 2023.

The Urban Health Case Challenge (UHCC) is an activity organised in the framework of the 4EU+ (European University Alliance). It addresses changes in cities that are related to health and demographic transition.

In 2023, the case challenge focuses on obesity in urban settings.

Obesity is one of the major civilisational challenges of our time. According to WHO, obesity is "often the result of environmental and social changes associated with development and the lack of supportive policies in sectors such as health, agriculture, transport, urban planning, environment, food processing, distribution, marketing and education". You will work with your team to solve an assigned case question related to one of these relationships.

In a case competition (often called a case competition), participating student teams try to develop the best solution to a real-world problem in a limited amount of time. Each team presents its solution to a panel of experts at a session on the last day of the case competition.

The aim is to strengthen the competence of university students and their involvement in solving real cases by applying practical, theoretical, innovative and interdisciplinary thinking. Students will work in mixed teams, networking and learning from each other, the instructors, the external case provider, and other stakeholders. Students will learn to work innovatively and interdisciplinarily to solve complex case problems, practice their presentation skills, and practice task and time management.

The challenge is open to Bachelor, Master and PhD students from 4EU+ partner universities and Uppsala University (Sweden), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway).

The course is organized at the Faculty of Science and is open to students of all faculties. The course is valued at 3 ECTS, students of doctoral programmes can negotiate with their supervisors to enrol in an individual study plan.

The deadline for applications is 15 October.
