Bank Description: The Genetic bank of the Department of Zoology, Charles University was established in 2014 and registered in the international biobank register GRBio under the code ZCU. The bank holds currently a collection of ca. 3000 animal tissue samples available for genomic research. The collection is constantly growing, focusing mainly on central European fauna and domestic animal breeds. Since 2014 the bank is part of the Global Genome Biodiversity Network (GGBN). In 2015 the Genetic bank of the Department of Zoology, Charles University became a founding institution of the National Animal Genetic Bank of the Czech Republic (NAGB).
Data portal: We are presently working on publishing of information on our samples on the data portal of GGBN (repository code CUNI). This portal allows searching the sample database as well as ordering the samples of interest.
Bank management: The whole process of sample acquisition and management (including description of procedures of sample inclusion into the bank and sample distribution) is subject to the following documents reflecting current legal requirements as well as internal rules of our institution:
