We cordially invite you to the conference on Through Academic Culture to Scientific Excellence, which will take place in person and online on Wednesday 12 June 2024 at the CIIRC CTU. The main guests will be ERC President Maria Leptin, Robert Schlögl, President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and art historian Matthew Rampley from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University. The panel discussion will be attended by Pavel Tomančák, Director of the CEITEC Consortium, sociologist Petra Guasti, and physicist Barbora Špačková.

Vojtěch Hladky's book has just been published by Oxford University Press

The publication "On the Gods and the World. Orpheus and the Presocratics in the Derveni Papyrus" by Vojtěch Hladky from the Department of Philosophy and History of Natural Sciences has just been published by the prestigious Oxford University Press. The book places the Derveni Papyrus in the context of the broader intellectual milieu of the time, which helps us to better understand some of the peculiarities of this c. 2400-year-old text. The Book in Springer: Organismal Agency Biological Concepts and Their Philosophical Foundations

This book explores the notion of organismal agency from the perspective of both philosophy and biology. The two sections of the book delve into parallel themes, including distinctions between organic and inorganic nature, self-organization, autonomy, self-presentation, memory, umwelt, and environmental influence. The book was edited by Jana Švorcová from Department of Philosophy and History of Science.
