Main Program Information
Cooperatio Geography is a new program of basic institutional support for science and research at Charles University, which will replace the Progres program from 1 January 2022. In addition to ensuring the quality and development of scientific disciplines, the main goal of the program is to reduce the fragmentation of scientific disciplines within the Charles University. Cooperatio is a tool for supporting communication, coordination and cooperation of all faculties and higher education institutions of the Charles University in which a certain field is developed. Thanks to the branch division, compatibility with the internal evaluation of the CU's creative activities is ensured. From a longer-term point of view, the intention of the program is also an effort to better link scientific areas with study programs. Other important aspects of Cooperatia are its non-competitive nature (also inherent in the Progress programs) and its inclusive principle (all academic and research staff and doctoral students at Charles University are involved in the program). The Cooperatio program will run in five-year cycles. The first cycle will run between 2022 and 2026.
The research area Geography consists of five disciplines of the Charles University classification: Demography, Physical Geography, Cartography, Regional Geography and Social Geography. All these disciplines are located at the Faculty of Science, other parts of the university do not participate in the Cooperatio Geography program. However, it is expected that extensive cooperation will continue not only between scientific disciplines within the Faculty of Science, but also across the disciplines of the University and other domestic and foreign institutions.
