The DNNT National Digital Library makes available digitized documents published in the Czech Republic until 1989, as well as newer works that are not available on the market and / or are no longer under copyright protection.

The Map Collection will be open only from Monday to Thursday in the morning.

The Map collection is closed until further notice from 22. october because of pandemic situation of Covid 19.
Map Collection re-opened for researchers
Since May 10, the Map Collection will be opened every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00 and between 13:00 and 16:00.

Dr. Ivan Kupčík died
RNDr. Ivan Kupčík, historical cartographer who focused on the history of cartography in the Czech lands and the Central European region, and a former curator of the CU Map Collection, died at the the age of 78.
Exhibition The Heritage of lost landscapes of Czechia II
From 17 May to 31 August 2022, the exhibition „The Heritage of lost landscapes of Czechia II“ will take place in the building of the Faculty of Science of Charles University Albertov 6, on the 2nd floor in the foyer of the Map Collection. The exhibition presents the results of a project from the NAKI II programme of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic focused on the documentation and reconstruction of 40 transformed territories or extinct landscapes of the Czech Republic. The processing of sources took place on the basis of geoinformatics, historical and geographical methods. Viewers will get acquainted with the analysis of the area, which will be presented not only with cartographic and visual materials, but also with 3D models.

The project of the Giant Mountains Sources contributes to the knowledge of the history of the Giant Mountains in the period of Czechoslovakia through the opening of the still completely fragmented and practically unseen sources. Exhibition "From Šenov cottages to the palaces of the world"
Until 30 November 2022, the Glass Museum in Kamenický Šenov will host the special exhibition dedicated to Šenov glassmakers. It offers a unique exhibit of the first color industrially produced shade for kerosene lamps in the shape of a globe.
