Opening of the exhibition Siege Maps

The exhibition Siege Maps: Keeping memory Safe was opened on Thursday 30th June

The exhibition Siege Maps was innaugurated on Thursday 30th June.

Oppenning ceremony included speach of the Vice-dean for Development and Foreign Relations, Assoc. Prof. Josef Novotný. The courator of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valleta, ms Bernadine Scicluna gave a speech. Record is available HERE. The director of the Map Collection PhDr. et Mgr. Eva Novotná had a speech too and moderated all ceremony.

There was a musical accompaniment by Hipocondria ensemble.

This exhibition has been inspired by a Malta-Czech Republic joint initiative which seeks to register these four maps in UNESCO’s International Memory of the World Register. JUDr. Karel Komárek from the Czech Commission for UNESCO and  Mgr. Dita Limová from Ministry of Culture visited the innauguration. Guests wrote a message in the guestbook.
