New book in the collection
New book by known expert G. Schilder descirbes also the unique parchment map ftrom the Map Collection FC CU
Specialist in Dutch historical cartography, professor Günter Schilder, is the author of new book Early Dutch Maritime Cartography.
The book describes maps from The North Holland School of Cartography and in one chapter XI.1 A Masterpiece in Prague: Evert Gijsbertsz.'s Chart of Europe, 1598 is unique parchment map of Europe discussed. This map was discovered in the Map Collection of Charles University.
The map is also used for covering the book. The work is available in the Map Collection in research hours (Tuesday and Thursday 10-12, 13-15).
