Trip tip - Glass globes in Kamenický Šenov

Until 30 November 2022, the Glass Museum in Kamenický Šenov (Czech Republic) will host the special exhibition “Ze šenovských chalup do světových paláců” [From Šenov cottages to the palaces of the world], which includes a rare example of the first industrially produced globe that can be illuminated from the inside.
The glass refinery Stelzig, Kittel & Co. located in Kamenický Šenov (former German name: Steinschönau) produced and distributed coloured lampshades for kerosene lamps designed as terrestrial and celestial globes in the second half of the 19th century.
