Visiting lecture series by doc. Branislav Bleha

Between 8th and 10th of March 2016 our Department has hosted within the framework of Erasmus+ Programme a well-known Slovak human geographer and demographer doc. RNDr. Branislav Bleha, Ph.D., the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Comenius in Bratislava and the Head of Demogeography and Demography Section at the Department of Human Geography and Demography of the same Faculty.

Within the framework of his visit, doc. Bleha has delivered lectures for Czech and foreign students, as well as the fellows of our geographical departments on the topics of Roma population in the Slovak Republic and its reproductive behaviour, and the territorial diffusion of changes in family and the reproductive behaviour in the Czech Republic and Slovakia since 1970.

In addition to the lectures, doc. Bleha has also met with the representatives of our Department and discussed the possibilities of cooperation in research and education. We have agreed as part of the first phase of research cooperation to introduce Czech parties into already running Slovak research projects of territorial changes in reproductive behaviour on the territory of our countries between 1971 and 2015. The resulting mutual research could focus on analysing geographic diffusion of changes in reproductive behaviour in the same regional framework during the period of demographic transition. The visit concluded with an agreement to continue with further negotiations on research and educational cooperation between two institutions.
