Research Areas

The main lines of research are focused on the areas of data acquisition, processing and analyzes of data, geographic information systems, development and evaluation of cartographic products and application modeling.

  • Use of remote sensing for the evaluation of the spatial distribution and condition of vegetation. Use of satellite data, hyperspectral, multispectral data and LiDAR data acquired by UAV and aircraft (contact persons: doc. RNDr. Lucie Kupková, Ph.D., Ing. Markéta Potůčková, Ph.D., Mgr. Lucie Červená, Ph.D. )

  • Matematická kartografie, kartografické algoritmy, počítačová geometrie, programování v jazyce C++ (kontaktní osoba: doc. Ing. Tomáš Bayer, Ph.D.)

  • Land use/cover changes (LUCC) – historical land use changes of Czech cultural landscape, searching “driving forces”, application of GIS in LUCC research  (kontaktní osoba: doc. RNDr. Přemysl Štych, Ph.D., doc. RNDr. Lucie Kupková, Ph.D.)

  • Application of GIS in environmental systems – modelling environmental processes, time-spatial analyses, geostatistical tools (kontaktní osoba: doc. RNDr. Přemysl Štych, Ph.D.)

  • Digital cartography, automation in cartography (contact person: RNDr. Jakub Lysák, Ph.D.)

  • Historical cartography, old maps and old cartographic products (doc. Ing. Tomáš Bayer, Ph.D., Ing. Miroslav Čábelka)

  • 3D modelling and visualisation (contact person: Ing. Eva Štefanová, Ph.D., RNDr. Lukáš Brůha, Ph.D.)

  • Fotogrammetrie pozemní (dokumentace památkových objektů) a letecká (tvorba digitálního ortofota), geodézie, vizualizace geodat (kontaktní osoba: Ing. Eva Štefanová, Ph.D.)

  • Methodology for Mapping and creation of large scale maps and plans, geodetic measurements and calculations. (contact person: Ing. Miroslav Čábelka)

  • Distribution of geographic data - methodology and means of disseminating information and data on the Internet, tools for creating web applications. (contact person: Ing. Miroslav Čábelka)

  • Global navigation satellite systems - the technology of obtaining data on the exact geographic location through satellites. The most famous are: GPS, Galileo and Glonass. (contact person: Ing. Miroslav Čábelka)
