Odborné zaměření

Zabývám se geomorfologií, a to zejména přírodními ohroženími a riziky a neotektonickou aktivitou. Studie z posledních let se týkají především geomorfologických projevů povodní z glaciálních jezer a dále sesuvů ve vztahu ke srážkám. Z hlediska regionálního jsem zaměřen na výzkum vysokohorských oblastí, zejména v Peruánských And, Evropy a v minulosti též Etiopské vysočiny. Současně také pracuji na tématech z Centrální Asie. Výzkum je realizován v rámci International Consortium on Landsldies (ICL) či International Consortium on Geodisaster Reduction (ICGdR).
