K4 course (entry level B1)

Two-semester course for students at the B1 English proficiency level

Half of the course focuses on expanding the students’ knowledge of English grammar, the second half is aimed at expanding the students’ vocabulary, concentrating on both scientific and general English (collocations, differences between different varieties of English, etc.). Special emphasis is placed on scientific English and the ability to speak independently and participate in discussions. Students in the K4 course further develop the ability to distinguish between formal and informal writing styles, using, for example, advanced introductory phrases and linking expressions, and phrases that express consequence. The students are also able to present basic scientific discoveries and news, and their scientific work, as well as to understand texts on natural science topics form their chosen field of study. Students will learn how make the best use of the vocabulary they have already attained and how to extend it further.
