Erasmus traineeships
at the Facuty of Science

Information for Incoming E+ trainees:

Apart from a study stay, Charles University offers many possibilities for a traineeship, so you are warmly welcome to enrich your study career with such an experience. Faculty of Science, Charles University accepts students for Erasmus+ traineeship from any university that is part of the Erasmus+ programme.

Each of the trainees shall find their host teacher/supervisor or department themselves. It is expected that you know which area of research you would like to participate in. You can use the list of our Erasmus departmental coordinators and English websites of their departments in order to guide you to the teacher specialised in your research subject.

NOMINATION

Your nomination can be submitted only by your home university. Information about the nomination process is included in the CU Infosheet. Please note that the nomination has to contain correct traineeship dates that have to be already confirmed by the faculty coordinators and the supervisors on both sides. Please add also the name of the supervisor at the Faculty of Science.

Once we receive the nomination, all provided information must be confirmed by  your home coordinator as well as by the supervisor at the Faculty of Science via email. Then you will receive further information about the application.

ONLINE APPLICATION AND LEARNING AGREEMENT

The European office of Charles University will send you a registration link in order to fill out the online application. After successful submission, you can generate your Student Application and Learning Agreement (LA). Please, do not generate your LA before you are certain that there are no mistakes in your application. Once you and your home university sign your LA, please send the document to your host Faculty of Science Erasmus+ coordinator at: erasmus@natur.cuni.cz
Please do not forget to send the signed and filled out application via email, it is not sufficient just to create a registration in our online system.

Deadlines

  • For visa citizens: please apply min. 3 months before the planned beginning of your stay. In case you are planning to stay in the Czech Republic for a period shorter than 3 months, please consult the conditions with us: erasmus@ruk.cuni.cz

  • For EU/EFTA citizens: Please apply min. 1 month before the beginning of your stay.

Please be aware of the fact that the traineeship cannot be administrated in a shorter time.

 

Erasmus+ Traineeship: Student Cards; Housing

Charles University Erasmus+ traineeship students are entitled to the same student benefits as the regular Study Stay Erasmus+ Students. You will get your student ID / ISIC cards after the registration meeting in the Erasmus office of your host fakulty. The student card will enable you to access the CU libraries, refectories, and other services. You can also apply for student housing in one of our halls of residence.

 

Important information

  • Incoming trainees are not provided with insurance by the Faculty of Science. You have to take out an accident and liability insurance by  yourself (in addition to health insurance).
  • Erasmus traineeship is not awarded by ECTS credits (0 ECTS). After successful completion, you will receive a Final report  (by your supervisor) and the Confirmation of Traineeship  (by the Faculty Erasmus office).
  • The minimum length of the Erasmus+ traineeship is 2 months.
  • Length of the Erasmus+ PhD short-term traineeship is from 5 to 30 days.

 

The above-stated rules apply to the Erasmus+ traineeship as well as to the Erasmus+ PhD short-term traineeship.
