Ecology

Department of Ecology

Characteristics of the field

Ecology is dealing with interactions of groups of organisms related to their abiotic environment. The study is general, i. e. including all groups of taxonomic units. Projects with predominantly biotic interactions have priority over the study of abiotic environment: populations and community ecology, study of ecosystems.

Lectures and courses offered

Selection of courses is entirely on the agreement of the supervisor and student and depends mostly on the previous curriculum of the applicant. The courses listed are selected either from magisterial curriculum or from departmental list of courses. There are no limits to the selection of courses either from the offer of Faculty of Science, or others institutions of Charles University. The only condition is the approval by Scientific Committee of Ecology.
