Unique identifiers
and how to create them

Researcher ID

The ID related to the Web of Science database, (temporarily was part of the Publons platform).

Initially, create a ResearcherID, search for publications in the Web of Science, and match them with the identifier (i.e., to create your own publication profile on the Web of Science).

The manual you can find on the Clarivate website.

Scopus Author ID

The Scopus Author ID is created by indexing the first result in the Scopus database. Authors are not able to create one themselves.

In Scopus, you need to search for your Scopus Author ID (created automatically when your first publication is entered in Scopus) and modify your Scopus profile (match your publications in the database with your identifier).

Instructions are available on the Scopus website.

ORCID ID

International identifier ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID)

You need to create your ORCID profile and interconnect it with your ResearcherID and Scopus Author ID profiles (thereby filling the profile up with publications listed on the Web of Science and Scopus).

Instructions are available on the ORCID website.

The profile may be filled with records directly from the OBD database via special interface which is about to be available.

Profiles

When generating UAIs remember to fill your profile with the list of your publications. For instructions see the respective UAI.

Set your profiles open to the public and remember to update them regularly, otherwise they serve no purpose.
