Course: Hot topic of environmental sciences

For this semester, the Hot topic of environmental sciences (MO550C06E) course will focus on: Quantitative Analysis of Human Exposure to Airborne Particulate Matter: Indoor Sources, Human Activity Patterns, Indoor/Outdoor Relationships

The three week course will be led by Prof. Andrea R. Ferro, Clarkson University, USA, from 4. to 16.1.2017. The course will consist of two 90-min lectures plus one 2-h laboratory per week. It is recommended for graduate students, doctoral and post-doctoral fellows, and faculty interested in topic.

Andrea Ferro, Ph.D., P.E., is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a faculty affiliate of the Center for Air Resources Engineering and Science and Institute for a Sustainable Environment at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. Her technical expertise is focused on indoor air quality and human exposure to particulate pollutants. She has also worked in the private industry, engineering consulting and nonprofit sectors. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in environmental engineering from Stanford University. The overall goal of Prof. Ferro’s work is to improve human health by improving air quality through source control, ventilation and purification strategies, education, and regulatory policy.
