The French Institutes for Advanced Study (FIAS) Fellowship Programme offers 10-month fellowships to one of seven French Institutes (IAS): the Institutes of Aix-Marseille, Loire Valley (Orléans-Tours), Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Paris and Rennes.

The call is open to all disciplines in the social sciences and humanities and to all areas of research.

FIAS fellows will be free to organise their research while benefiting from the support and the favourable scientific environment offered by the institution, which is characterised by a multidisciplinary cohort of fellows and close links with local research centres and laboratories.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All IAS have agreed on common standards, including the provision of a living allowance (EUR 2 700 per month), social security, accommodation, research and training budget and reimbursement of travel expenses.

FIAS awards fellowships to outstanding researchers at all career levels, from postdocs to senior researchers. The minimum requirement is a PhD + 2 years of research experience at the time of application. Exceptions are scientists with a Master's degree + 6 years of full-time research experience after obtaining the degree (PhD education is not taken into account when calculating experience).

Researchers from all countries are eligible to apply for the FIAS fellowship programme, but must not have spent more than 12 months in France in the three years prior to the application deadline.
