The first ever Science in Shorts competition has its winners
Science in Shorts, a new competition from the Nature Awards and Springer Nature in collaboration with Merck KGaA (Darmstadt, Germany) has announced its first ever winners. The top ten winners were presented at the Curious2022 - Future Insight™ conference, from which the "Curious2022 Favourite" was selected by public vote.
Each candidate produced a 60-second video that was presented to a panel of judges comprised of editors, reporters, filmmakers, researchers and communications specialists from across Nature's portfolio. Ten finalists were selected from more than 100 entries, each of whom received a €5,000 prize, and their videos premiered at the Curious2022 - Future Insight™ conference.
The winner of the public vote - Curiouse 2022 Favourite" - was Mgr. Pavel Doležal, Ph.D. from the Department of Parasitology at the Faculty of Science of Charles University and BIOCEV. In the video "Iron's will" he and his colleagues explore how iron in the body is involved in a huge number of basic biological processes.
