Olympus Image of the Year award 2021
Olympus continues to search for the best images in light microscopy and the third edition of its Olympus Image of the Year Award 2021 focused on the life sciences. The world prize for the microscopic image of an Arabidopsis flower was awarded to Mgr. Jan Martinek. Congratulations!
The global winner of the Olympus Image of the Year Award 2021 is Arabidopsis thaliana Mgr. Jan Martink from the Department of Experimental Plant Biology, Faculty of Science, Charles University.
Arabidopsis thaliana flower with pollen tubes growing through the pistil. The flower tissues were chemically cleaned to make them transparent, while the pollen tubes were stained with aniline blue (yellow fluorescence) to make them visible.
