A certificate confirming the entry of Camocio maps in the Memory of the World Register by UNESCO was handed over

On Thursday, April 5th, 2018, a certificate corroborating the entry of the Camocio maps of the Great Siege of Malta in the Memory of the World Register by UNESCO was solemnly handed over.

The event took place in the Nostic Palace in Prague and was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic Ilja Šmíd, who handed the certificate over to the Dean of the Faculty of Science of the Charles University prof. RNDr. Jiří Zima, CSc. The Director of the Map Collection and Head of the Geographical Library of the Faculty of Science PhDr. Mgr. Eva Novotná, along with Maltese colleagues who participated in the preparation of the nomination, were present as well.

 In conjunction with the event, the Map Collection was visited by a Maltese delegation headed by Bernadine Scicluna and Joseph Schiro.
