Can increased temperature help tobacco plants fight viral infection?
This article (https://doi.org/10.1111/plb.13234), addresses the question whether heat shock applied before or after inoculation with Potato virus Y, strain NTN (PVYNTN) affects virus multiplication and propagation in tobacco plants. In the beginning, both ways of virus application increase the amount of some HSP70 isoforms, thereby facilitating virus propagation. However, some HSP70 isoforms, which were induced by salicylic acid, appeared with viral RNA and viral proteins. Thus, some HSP70 isoforms could be a part of the plant's defense responses against viral infection.
