About Us
The Department of Zoology of the Faculty of Science of the Charles University has a long history. It studies a variety of animal species, both vertebrates and invertebrates, with a combination of multidisciplinary laboratory and classical methods of research on wild and captive animals. Scientific knowledge is important on the theoretical level of general application not only for its potential use by human beings, but also for practical protection of different types of animals and of their natural habitat. The staff of the Department of Zoology is involved not only in education, field work and laboratory research but it also participates in various public educational programs.
