The position is available in the group of Pavel Dolezal (see www.labinbasement.com) . We are interested in the protein transport mechanisms across biological membranes with particular interests to (i) the mitochondrial protein import and the evolution of mitochondrial transport pathways, (ii) protein secretion by intracellular pathogenic bacteria and (iii) the effects of mRNA localization on protein expression and localization. Various cellular models are used in the laboratory (e.g. protists, mammalian cells, yeast and bacteria). We use a lot of bioinformatics, protein expression and purification, in vitro protein import assays and immunofluorescence microscopy etc. The position offered includes mobility to one of our collaborators in US or Australia.

The postdoc is expected to be familiar with cell biology and molecular biology techniques, microscopy and bioinformatics. The particular project as well as other details will be discussed with the candidate upon contact (pavel.dolezal@natur.cuni.cz). Please contact me as soos as possible!
