Postdoctoral position in in Molecular Virology

Successful candidate should perform research on molecular mechanisms of individual steps of infection by small tumorogenic DNA viruses - Polyomaviruses. Candidate will be selected on the basis of publications in international journals with IF that document required skills. They should be able to speak English. Candidates from the Czech Republic are also eligible if they are able to write and speak English. Communication skills and the ability to interact and co-operate with other scientists and students in the team are essential. Description

The virology lab of the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague studies various aspects of polyomavirus (PyV) infection. Project research includes studies of mechanism of delivery PyV genomes into the cell nucleus, spatio-temporal dynamic of changes in the cell nucleus during PyV genome expression, replication and viron assembly. Another aim of the virology team is to develop nanostructure derived from PyV capsid proteins for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. 
Research methods include e.g. techniques of molecular and cell biology, immunoelectron microscopy, confocal microscopy

The contract will start on 1st of August 2012 or later and will be signed for 30 months. The position is funded by the European Social Fund in the Czech Republic and includes additional funds for the international mobility (up to 6 month). The monthly salary starts at 40 000 CZK.
