Our colleague Jan Martinek won 1st place in the Olympus Image of the Year Award 2021 - CONGRATULATIONS!
The global winning image was taken by Jan Martinek (Czech Republic). Arabidopsis thaliana flower with pollen tubes growing through the pistil. The flower tissues were chemically cleared to become transparent, while the pollen tubes were stained with aniline blue (yellow fluorescence) in order to be seen.

Conference on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Bohumil Němec
We cordially invite all those interested to a two-day conference on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Bohumil Němec, which will be held under the auspices of the Rector of Charles University, Prof. Milena Králíčková, on 8 and 9 June 2023 in Viničná 7. The aim of the two-day conference is to look at the personality of Prof. Němec in the context of his time, his predecessors and contemporaries, and the ideological currents of the time - i.e. as a public figure and thinker. At the same time, however, also as an initiator and driver of the scientific programme of experimental plant studies, which continues and successfully develops at our universities and institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Fresh graduate Daniel Palouš co-authored an article in the journal Science
Daniel Palouš who recently completed his Master's studies, accomplished a research stay in the Global Ecosystem Ecology Laboratory led by prof. Dr. Tom Crowther at ETH Zurich with the support of several foundations and the Laboratory of Plant Ecophysiology under the guidance of prof. Jana Albrechtová, Faculty of Science, Charles University. As a result of his stay, he co-authored a study recently published in the journal Science. We sincerely congratulate Daniel and the entire Plant Ecophysiology Laboratory on this achievement!

Employment offer - academic worker
We are seeking a creative, motivated candidate who would either initially join one of the existing teams at the Department of Experimental Plant Biology and participate in their research as a (senior) postdoc, with a perspective of applying for external funding and starting an independent research group, or establish a (small) research group from the beginning (additional support for a part-time technician and one PhD student as well as consumables is negotiable).
