In and Out: The use of -omics approaches in the crosstalk between exocytosis and endocytosis

Natalia Serrano, PhD

(PřF UK)

Principal cell polarity regulators in eukaryotes mediating the vesicle trafficking are the exocyst complex and the clathrin coat. In the first part of my talk, I will present our data on the molecular architecture of the plant exocyst complex and its recruitment to the plasma membrane. In the second part, I will focus on the different approaches used to reveal the specific interaction of the exocyst subunits with the plasma membrane lipids. In the last part, I will focus on crosstalk between exocytosis and clathrin-mediated trafficking. I successfully purified and biochemically characterized clathrin-coated vesicles from plant cells. This represents the first step to get molecular insight into the mechanisms bridging the clathrin-coated vesicles and the exocyst complex.
