About Department of Anthropology and Human Genetics
The ongoing anthropological research in Department of Anthropology and Human Genetics is aimed on past human populations (evolution, bioarchaeology, ecology, taphonomy, variability and adaptability of human traits in the past), postnatal growth and development (normal and anomalous craniofacial growth, body composition and obesity, influence of environmental factors on growth) and applied anthropology (practical application in medical fields, criminalistics and forensic medicine). In the field of human genetics the research is aimed primarily on diabetes mellitus type 1, celiac disease and other polygenic autoimmune disorders, study of genes related to obesity and role of prolactine and innate immunity in immune reactions of organism.
