Carbon pumping by plant ecosystems

– environmental limits.

Situa􀀁on in the Czech Republic

Permanent exchange of atmospheric carbon and ecosystems plays very important  role in the biosphere function. Moreover this exchange is connected with the carbon storage in biomass ,  and soil and thus could be regarded as crucial tool of global change mitigation. The final ecosystems carbon storage reflects equilibrium between two basic physiological processes, i.e. photosynthesis and carbon respiration. Both processes are extremely environment- dependent: This dependency is monitored on the short- and long-term time scale. Landscape in the Czech republic is manifested by the scale of different ecosystems, which are different not only in their landscape role but in their interaction to environmental conditions.
