Insights in to the guard cell electrophysiology
Martina Klejchová, PhD
Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biophysics, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK
Electrophysiology is a method that allows measuring the voltage in a cell and/or the current of a single channel or a group of channels. In this talk, I will describe the theoretical and practical aspects of guard cell electrophysiology. In particular, I will focus on the voltage-clamp technique that can be used to measure and evaluate the IV curves of the plasma membrane K+ rectifying channels in the guard cells of Arabidopsis thaliana. Finally, I will show how voltage-clamp can be used to understand the interaction between H+-ATPase, PP2C.D phosphatases and SAUR proteins.
