Ochranářská populační biologie a genetika (Conservation Biology)

B120P113 – 4 credits

2007:

Letos bude přednáškadůvodu účasti minimálně 2 Erasmovských studentůangličtině.

The course will be given in English. The first lecture will start on 13.3. It take place on Tuesday 8:10 to 10:40.

The aim of the project is to provide introduction to problems of performance of rare species and their communities. Přednáška se zaměří zejména na identifikaci objektů studia, jejich populační biologii a genetiku. Dále bude zahrnovat problematiku fragmentace krajiny, identifikaci minimální velikosti populace i minimálního počtu populací v krajině a designu reservací.

 Exam

Write an essay/project proposal on any topic of your choice related to the course and defend it. Read an essay/project proposal of somebody else, and prepare questions about the essay/project proposal. The expected length is ~ 3 pages of text.  If writing an essay, read several papers about your topic, and try to think about the problem and show possible limitations of the studies, possible solutions to the problems….. If writing a project proposal, write an introduction explaining why this topic should be studied, what is not yet known about it, and how it could be done. Provide also brief technical description of how it could be studied.
