Course Objectives
The objective of the course is to give a basic understanding of processing 3D city models using laser scanner data. Preprocessing of laser data for building extraction is depicted. Several methods to extract 3D presentation of the building using point clouds data are compared and analyzed. Finally, an overview of several methods of building Extraction including photogrammetric and laser scanning-based methods are compared.
Course Outline
Module 1
The first module characterizes the acquisition and preprocessing of laser scanning data.
Module 2
Methods for 3D city models using preprocessed ALS data are presented.
Module 3
One particular method is explained in detail.
Module 4
Results of the EuroSDR Building Extraction comparison are presented.
