Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography was established in 2003 at the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague.

Department was newly built in order to open the way for the accreditation of study field modernized to be more accepted part of our job application and developed cooperation with other departments at the faculty.

Since its inception, provides education in bachelor, master and doctoral studies.

Department provides education master degree field of Cartography and Geoinformatics, previous bachelor's degree program in Geography and continued doctoral study program.

Teaching is mainly concentrated on the geo-information systems, remote sensing, geo-database systems, web applications and cartography.
